Signing Up with Google Analytics
- Go to www.google.com/analytics

How does Google Analytics work?
Create a google analytics accounts to track your website. When you add a tracking code on each page of your site. You collect data each time a customer or a user visits your site. A session ends after 30 mins of being inactive. If the visitor returns to your page after the session ends, a new session will begin. After the collection of data, it sends it to google analytics. Once the data is processed into a database, it cannot be changed.
How to login to Google Analytics?
When you create an account in Google Analytics you will automatically find three things: Account, Property, and View. You can create multiple accounts with multiple property and view according to your business need. If you are the admin of the account, you can set user permissions (i.e you can add or remove user access from the account).
Filters:
Filters are basically used when you want to exclude and include data in your reports.
Goals:
Next important thing is to set up goals. Goals let you track conversions and will help to find your business objectives.
You need to name each and every goal that you set. So that you can clearly understand the information which you get via Google Analytics reports.
If “contact us” is your goal type. Then you need to enter the page URL of a particular goal type. And this how you can track your conversion rates.
What does Google Analytics track?
Google Analytics needs a small tracking code to be placed on every page of your site you want to track. Google Analytics uses user’s information and behavior like cookies, hits, form submission, exit pages, etc with just a small bit of javascript code.
Google Analytics Dashboards:
When you create a customized dashboard you can overview your google analytics reports according to your need. You can add anything like audience reports, social media reports, etc which is necessary for your website success.
Google Analytics Audience Report:
The audience report will give you an overview of what users are doing on your website in a particular time period. It will also help to understand the demographics, Geographic and Behaviour segment, Interests, Technology, custom, and benchmarking of the user.
In the above picture, we can see the number of sessions, Avg. session duration, bounce rate, page views, pages/session, number of sessions per page, and new users will give you the accurate number of things happening on your website.
Google Analytics Acquisition Report:
The acquisition reports will give you an overview of digital traffic. Through this report, you will know where the traffic is coming from like is it organic, direct, paid, display, social, referral, google ads, or email.
The above graph tells how many sessions, Avg. session duration, bounce rate, page views, pages/session, number of sessions per page, and new users are coming from a different medium.
Google Analytics Behavior Report:
The behavior reports will give an overview of landing pages, exit pages, searched pages, site speed, how your page title is performing, and behavior flow.
According to the above graph, we will know how many page views, unique page views, Avg. time on page, bounce rate, and exit rate are happening in the page title, search term, and event category.
